So yesterday we went down to the first drop of Supreme’s FW17 collection. This made me realise, this week all I have spoke about is the impending release of their latest collection. When rummaging through the internet for news, all I saw was the New York skate brands name. This begs the question is there any brands in the world that even comes close to Preme.
This is a bold statement to put out there but when you really think about it, there are no clothing brands that could have people queuing for literally days on end just to cop a tee. Before yesterday’s release we went to the Supreme x Louis Vuitton pop up in central London. We encountered people who had queued for 30 hours, spent £8,000 on one drop and had swarms of people clambering round just to see some of the elusive pieces. Name me a brand that can cause this hysteria?
In terms of streetwear, there really is only one other company that comes close to this right now and that’s Palace. The UK skate brand also has instant sell outs and 100’s of people looking to resell and cop their new collections. Although it is on the rise, let’s be honest the Tri-Ferg isn’t quite at the same level as the Box Logo.
What is undeniable is that the thirst for Supreme is not dying down. The queue was a madness and even people who were not lucky enough to get themselves a number still showed up hoping to pay resale on pieces. I mean could you find me another culture where the resale game is so prevalent.
Do you think the Supreme hype is ever going to fade away? I feel like it is only going on an upward trajectory, having seen the rise of it over the past 6 years.
