Earlier this month, Japanese manga artist Katsuhiro Otomo confirmed that he will be teaming up with Supreme for an Akira inspired collaboration. Ahead of the drop, which is reportedly scheduled for early next year, a car completed in Supreme and Akira co-branding was recently spotted in front of Colette in Paris.
The #AKIRA2018 hashtag and the akira2018.com website, which currently redirects to Supreme’s official site, also appears on the side of the car. According to rumours, the bold Fiat 500 is an art project by French artist Charles Monteverdi in hopes of becoming part of the frenzy that will accompany the upcoming collaborative drop. Monteverdi notes that the purpose of the car is to bring more attention to the collab, while demonstrating his “expertise”.
In other Supreme collab news, the brand just dropped a preview of its highly anticipated Stone Island team up. Featuring a wide variety of pieces from outerwear to headwear, plenty of hypebeasts will surely be taking the L when this coveted collection finally drops.
The spotted Supreme / Akira car in Paris is an art project by Charles Monteverdi. The domain akira2018.com has also been registered by him which currently redirects to the Supreme website. On his website he states the project description as follows „The question arises: how to be part of the banquet for the Supreme Akira collection? An effective idea would draw „a little more“ attention to this event and indirectly, demonstrate my expertise.“ So for that he styled this car and placed it in front of Colette Paris. He also states „He will communicate soon on the result“ of the project. If you consider the current reposts and such about the car, it seems to be already working out for Charles 😉 #supreme
