Legendary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami has taken to Instagram to tease what could be Virgil Abloh’s first bag for Louis Vuitton. Captioned, “OMG! VERY FIRST @virgilabloh ‘s @louisvuitton ‘s product !”, the shoulder piece is dressed in leather and is emblazoned with LV’s iconic monogram motif. Blue accents appear on an adjustable strap, hang tag, and front pouch, with the main pocket seemingly hidden by a clasp.
However, it seems that all is not what it seems, as Abloh later confirms in the comments section that the bag was made by Louis V’s ex-Artistic Director Kim Jones and not himself. Why Murakami decided to post that caption? We may never know. In related news, Abloh recently graced the cover of M Magazine’s April 2018 issue.
